Nurturing the Hearts of Students

The IWHS Counseling department would like to welcome you! The mission of IWHS Counseling department is to provide a comprehensive, developmental counseling program which, through the model of pastoral care, participates with the whole school, in support of the CCVI mission, and the evangelizing mission of the church.

Our counseling goals are to work with you and our Shamrock community toward the formation of the whole child, to ensure their spiritual, academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development. Together with YOU,our students and our parents, with Christ as our guide, we believe not only will each young woman be successful in school, but she will reach her full potential and stand prepared to be a servant leader in her community and the greater society.

How We Serve Students

  • Academic and Learning Support Services

    We support students with different learning needs, support parents in facilitating the identification and evaluation process, complete academic intervention and accommodation plans (student success plans), and provide overall system support through consultation with faculty and coordination of services, including student tutoring and College Board/SSD.
  • College Counseling

    Through classroom and parent presentations, we guide students via Naviance with academic advising/individual planning, personal graduation/post-secondary plans (PGP’s), goal setting, standardized testing coordination (TSI/PSAT/SAT), navigating your high school process for college visits and fairs, college applications, college selection process, scholarship, and financial aid information sessions, etc.
  • Counseling Support Services

    We provide responsive services using a Christ-centered, solution-focused approach through monthly classroom counseling (guidance) and formation lessons, individual counseling, small group meetings, mental health, and wellness awareness/training, parent education and support, teacher consultation and support, and coordination with academic/learning support services to promote success in the classroom and in the students’ overall experience in school.
  • Student Health and Wellness

    We protect and promote the health and well-being of the school community by providing care to students with acute or chronic health issues, monitoring health plans, maintaining health records (immunizations), and completing required health screenings.
