Peer Ministry

What is Peer Ministry?

Peer Ministry is a student led ministry and class that works with the Director of Mission and Faith Formation to develop and provide prayer activities, retreat leadership, and engage students in various forms of faith formation. As modeled by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, their focus is to serve the school community as well as provide prayerful outreach opportunities for Catholic schools in the San Antonio area. Peer Ministry develops spiritual leadership skills which our students will continue to model after their graduation.

Expectations

Peer Ministers work with the office of Mission and Faith Formation to serve the IWHS community through the spiritual and liturgical events offered on our campus. We look for students that have the desire to strengthen their faith by living our mission and core values. Peer Ministers receive vital experience working with clergy, sister schools, adult ministry leaders, the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, and community leaders from the San Antonio community.

How to Apply

Applications are extended to rising juniors and seniors. An application and interview process accompanies the selection of peer ministers each spring during the course selection period. Students should regularly check their emails, school newsletter and/or other communication forums for updates.
