College & Career Center

Each school year, IWHS hosts a variety of college representatives from local to international study opportunities. Any student in any grade level is welcome to meet with the recruiter(s) that visit our campus.

The schedule of visits is available via Naviance. You may login to your student account and see upcoming visits. You are also allowed to preregister for the visit. Preregistration is recommended but not required.

Most visits will take place in the Guidance Office (Room 214) or the Library. Naviance will list this information and reminders will be announced during morning advisory.

We encourage any and all grade level families and students to participate in the Private Schools of San Antonio college fair. This evening college fair is open only to the students from the participating private high schools hosting the event.

We encourage you to build or review your college list, make connections with recruiters and signup for mailing lists of all colleges you are interested.

Cafe College is a great location for additional college assistance. They offer several programs for college access advice, guidance, test prep workshops and FAFSA and Financial Aid assistance. The program is funded by the City of San Antonio and open to all area students. No appointments are necessary and all services are free of charge.

Naviance:
Naviance Student assists students and families in the college and career process from initial exploration through matriculation. Naviance Student allows students to:

• Complete learning and career assessments
• Explore and learn about various career pathways
• Browse, search, and match to colleges/universities by geographical region, type, majors available, etc.
• Keep track of their college and scholarship applications
• Request copies of their transcripts be sent to the colleges/universities they applied to
• Request letters of recommendation from their teachers
• Browse and review IWHS-provided resources pertaining to career/college exploration, standardized testing, gap year programs, financial aid, scholarship opportunities, fly-in programs...and much more!

IWHS submits all college application materials (e.g. school profile, secondary school report, transcripts, letters of recommendation, etc.) electronically using Naviance.

The College Application Process

Advised for all colleges and universities for eligible students. Submitting the FAFSA® gives access to the largest source of financial aid to pay for college. In addition, many states and colleges use the FAFSA data to determine eligibility for state and school aid, and some private financial aid providers may use your FAFSA information to determine whether you qualify for their aid.

Participating Institutions

For non-US citizens with Texas residency. Foreign or non-citizen students may be eligible to be classified as a Texas resident for tuition purposes. If so, you may also be eligible to receive state financial aid. Please check with your individual colleges for specific documents required to apply under the TASFA.
